Consultancy for Optimizing Zoonoses Diagnosis in Dominican Veterinary Labs

About the role

This consultancy supports the Dominican Republic's General Directorate of Livestock (DIGEGA) and the Central Veterinary Laboratory (LAVECEN) to improve the diagnosis of priority zoonoses. The team will standardize test menus, streamline sample flows, and reduce turnaround times for avian influenza, salmonellosis, brucellosis, tuberculosis, and leptospirosis.

Key responsibilities

• Review current laboratory processes and diagnostic workflows.
• Analyze the functioning and integration of the animal health laboratory network.
• Identify gaps and bottlenecks in test menus, sample handling, and reporting.
• Develop evidence‑based recommendations for standardization and optimization.
• Support DIGEGA and LAVECEN in implementing the recommended improvements.

Required profile

• Veterinary medicine professionals, consulting firms, or technical teams with expertise in microbiology, laboratory diagnostics, epidemiology, and zoonoses.
• Proven experience evaluating animal health laboratory networks and optimizing laboratory processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and international partners.
